Israel censured

Greenpeace has accused Israel of not doing its part to phase out production of a chemical which contributes to depletion of the ozone layer, Reuter reports from Jerusalem.
'Israel is a major producer and exporter of methyl bromide, which is estimated to cause about 5-10 per cent of ozone-layer depletion', a Greenpeace executive director, Paul Gilding, wrote to the Israeli Environment Minister, Yossi Sarid. Methyl bromide is used primarily as a pesticide.
