Milosevic disssolves parliament
BELGRADE (Reuter) - President Slobodan Milosevic said yesterday that he had dissolved the Serbian parliament because of 'political obstruction'. The speaker of parliament, Zoran Arandjelovic, said elections would be held on 19 December.
Mr Milosevic said he wanted to put an end to the 'circus' atmosphere in parliament. His minority socialist government was facing a confidence vote, which had been postponed from Monday for a week.
MPs have delivered scathing criticism of the Prime Minister, Nikola Sainovic, saying his government has grossly mismanaged the economy, which is collapsing under a daily inflation rate of 20 per cent.
The Belgrade-based Tanjug news agency said parliamentary discussion of the confidence vote was postponed because the house was busy this week.
