Milosevic supporter nominated as Yugoslav president
Serbia's ruling Socialist Party yesterday nominated Zoran Lilic, a staunch supporter of President Slobodan Milosevic, as Yugoslavia's new president, AP reports. Mr Lilic, a former Communist official and the speaker of Serbia's parliament, would replace the former Yugoslav president Dobrica Cosic, ousted from his office by the Socialists and Radical Party parliamentarians on 30 May.
