Poll boost
Bucharest (Reuter) - Romania's opposition may lead a coalition government after polls next month, and President Ion Iliescu faces a tight battle for re-election, an opinion poll found.
The survey showed little support for restoring the monarchy, which the Communists overthrew in 1947. It predicted the centrist Democratic Convention bloc would be the largest group in parliament with 28 per cent of the ballots.
