VILNIUS (Reuter) - Nitrogen and helium gases leaked from Lithuania's Ignalina nuclear power station, but there was no indication that any radiation had escaped, civil defence officials said.

A government spokesman said no radiation leaks had been reported from the Chernobyl-type Reactor Number One, the biggest nuclear power station in the former Soviet Union. Russian television said there had been an 'insignificant' radiation leak.
