Four Russian soldiers are reported to have been detained on suspicion of stealing credit cards from a victim of the plane crash that killed Poland's President and 95 others.

The Russian defence ministry has not confirmed the reports from Poland. But Polish prosecutors have been investigating the theft of two credit cards that belonged to Andrzej Przewoznik, a historian who died in the crash in Russia on 10 April.

It has been reported that 6,000 zlotys (£1,200) were withdrawn with his card two hours after the crash. "Four soldiers from the units that secured the crash area were detained," Polish authorities said.
