Ryanair passenger caught running across tarmac after missing final boarding call in Madrid

Footage shows the man leaping from the jet bridge and sprinting across the tarmac with his bags before being apprehended by airport staff

A holidaymaker who missed the final boarding call for his flight ran across the tarmac of one of Europe's biggest airports in an attempt to board the plane.

Video footage shows the man jumping off the jet bridge at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport in a breach of security regulations after the Boeing 727 had already pulled away from the terminal.

After landing on the tarmac he can be seen speaking to the driver of a baggage cart, in what looks like an attempt to get a ride, but the cart drives off.

The desparate man, who is reportedly a Bolivian national, then sprints across the tarmac carrying two bags but is apprehended by two people who appear to be airport staff.

At that point the video cuts off, but it is understood that the man was not allowed to board his flight and he is said to be facing a large fine.

The video was posted by CC.OO Ryanair & Lesma Handling on the group's Facebook page.

The caption posted alongside the video read: "This is how passengers in Madrid behave when they don't arrive in time for their flights.

"This particular passenger was missing a Ryanair's flight and, unbelievably, skipped several security protocols established by AENA in their airports.

"We're talking about level 4 security protocols! Not even with all those protocols we can feel safe..."

The Facebook post has been shared more than 6,500 times.

A spokesperson from Ryanair said: “Since this video relates to a security breach at Madrid Airport, it’s a matter for Madrid Airport Police.”
