Savona agrees to stay
The Italian Industry Minister, Paolo Savona, withdrew his resignation after the Prime Minister, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, urged him to reconsider, Reuter reports from Rome. Mr Savona quit on Sunday after Mr Ciampi implicitly rejected his ideas on how to privatise state-owned companies. The resignation had provoked fears for the future of Mr Ciampi's fragile administration.
