Science takes step towards Sun power

SCIENTISTS at Princeton University have taken a giant step towards harnessing the power source which drives the Sun to provide energy on Earth, by creating the largest nuclear fusion reaction yet achieved, writes Tom Wilkie.

The Tokamak Test Fusion Reactor at Princeton, fuelled by 'heavy hydrogen' produced the equivalent of 3 million watts of electricity at its peak on Thursday night - the energy needed to provide electricity to a small town.
