UN leaves Khmer Rouge town
The UN yesterday abandoned its military observation post in Pailin, a town in north-west Cambodia where the Khmer Rouge has its headquarters, AP reports from Phnom Penh. The post had been manned by a US and an Irish military observer and three Australian communications experts. Pailin, 220 miles north- west of the capital, Phnom Penh, is the only important town under the direct control of the Khmer Rouge.
