Green treaty
President Bill Clinton yesterday announced he would be signing an international treaty for protecting animal and plant life, reversing George Bush's policy, writes Nicholas Schoon.
Alone among Western leaders, Mr Bush refused to sign the biodiversity convention at last year's Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. The treaty calls on nations to protect the diversity of their native species for future generations.
