'Chirac hits a high note in Morocco

Rabat - President Jacques Chirac held talks with King Hassan of Morocco on the second day of a state visit which Moroccans hope will bring concrete gestures from the former colonial power. Moroccan newspapers, which gave rapturous praise to Mr Chirac's choice of Morocco as his first official destination as French President, turned sober yesterday, urging action from Mr Chirac to bolster the privileged relationship with Morocco. Yesterday Mr Chirac visited the French-built Hassan II mosque in Casablanca, which boasts the world's tallest minaret. Reuter
