JERUSALEM - Israel yesterday confirmed publicly for the first time that it tracked down and killed 10 to 15 Palestinians believed responsible for the murder of 11 Israeli sportsmen at the Munich Olympics in 1972, writes Sarah Helm.

In an interview on Israel television, Aharon Yariv, a former head of military intelligence, also said that in one case Israel got the wrong man, killing a Moroccan waiter, Ahed Toshiki, in Norway in July 1973.
