Mexican mediator calls for changes

Mexico's peace envoy for the state of Chiapas called for national political changes to avoid future conflicts, but reported no progress in his attempts to end a peasant uprising, Reuter reports from San Cristobal de las Casas. Manuel Camacho Solis said the nation needed to address the issues of poverty and political exclusion that led to the Zapatista National Liberation Army seizing several Chiapas cities on New Year's Day.
