Mexico calls for voting changes
The Mexican government and eight political parties have signed a deal calling for sweeping electoral reforms to try to end a peasant uprising in the southern state of Chiapas, Reuter reports from Mexico City. The agreement calls for independent electoral authorities and an end to use of government funds by political parties.
