Six members of a militant group with links to Isis have been executed by Egypt for an attack on soldiers near Cairo in 2014.

Since the army toppled Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in 2013, the group known as Sinai Province has killed hundreds of policemen and soldiers

The case was the first trial of members of Sinai Province, which has pledged allegiance to Isis (otherwise known as Islamic State).

The men were convicted on charges which included carrying out an attack which killed two army officers.

The news comes after three Egyptian judges were shot dead hours after deposed former president Mohamed Morsi was sentenced to death.

Police said the judges were travelling in a car in the city of al-Arish, Sinai, when it was attacked by suspected Islamist gunmen.
