Police said there was no evidence to support theories of a widespread right-wing conspiracy behind the assassination on 10 April of the South African Communist Party leader Chris Hani, Reuter reports from Johannesburg.

Those accused of assassinating Hani are a white conservative, Clive Derby-Lewis, his Australian-born wife Gaye, and Polish-born Janusz Walus, the alleged gunman. All three are in custody.
