Pakistan yesterday welcomed a United States decision not to place it on a list of countries sponsoring international terrorism, and said the move marked the start of better relations, Reuter reports from Islamabad.

The decision by the US Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, was based largely on Pakistan's response to US concerns about reported government support for Kashmiri militants 'and other militants who commit terrorist acts', a Foreign Office spokesman said.
