Pinatubo kills 8
BAMBAN, Philippines (Reuter) - Eight people died and about 50,000 others fled their homes when steaming mudflows thundered down from Mount Pinatubo volcano and buried hundreds of houses in their path, officials said yesterday.
In Taiwan, three people died and two were injured when tropical storm Polly lashed the island over the weekend, triggering landslides and flooding.
