Pinochet's toll
A Chilean government human rights group reported that 3,129 people were killed for political reasons during more than 16 years of military rule by Augusto Pinochet, which ended in 1990, AP reports from Santiago. The report by the Commission for Reconciliation increased by 850 the previous official figure of victims.
