Chong Kneas, Cambodia (Reuter) - Gunmen who massacred 36 ethnic Vietnamese villagers in north-west Cambodia, including children shot in the head or drowned, were Khmer Rouge guerrillas, local people said. 'Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot,' villagers shouted. Pol Pot put Cambodia through a reign of terror in the 1970s, killing a million people.

Boatmen who carried the 40 or so raiders to the floating Vietnamese village of lashed rafts and houseboats were being questioned by Phnom Penh and United Nations police last night.
