If you think Trending has thrown its weight behind International Women’s Day, you should see what the rest of the country is doing.

Britain is ahead of Australia, the US, Canada and the rest of the world combined in its support of IWD. So what’s the plan, woman? The Southbank Centre is holding WOW, its Women of the World Festival, until Sunday (see some of its participants, including Ruby Wax, Susie Orbach and Shami Chakrabarti, above).

Not in the capital? Oxfam’s Get Together is the UK’s largest celebration of IWD. Thousands of people raising money for the charity’s work with women living in poverty around the world. Two London girls’ schools, meanwhile, are being taken over by some of the technology and gaming industry’s biggest names courtesy of campaigning agency Lady Geek, and the pupils will be taught to design games and code. Take that, lads!

On a more serious note, the International Longevity Centre is debating whether the Sisterhood forgotten has forgotten its older members. Its collection of essays, published tomorrow, will explore longstanding and new issues facing older women.
