Russia said yesterday that it had broken off talks on withdrawing its remaining 2,500 troops from Lithuania and warned that it would act 'swiftly and decisively' if the troops suffered any intimidation, Reuter reports from Moscow. Russia's Foreign Ministry said the withdrawal, due to finish by 31 August, would go ahead but 'at a time convenient to the Russian Federation of which the Lithuanian side will be informed'.
