Seven killed in Indonesia quake
At least seven people were reported killed when an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale shook the Moluccan island of Halmahera yesterday, toppling buildings, Reuter reports from Jakarta.
The meteorological office in Jakarta said the focus of the quake was about 80km (50 miles) north of Ternate - about 2,500 km (1,550 miles) north-east of Jakarta - and about 33 km (21 miles) below the seabed.
