The iron-ore bulk carrier the Apollo Sea, feared sunk in stormy seas off South Africa's Cape coast, is believed to have produced the oil slick that could devastate the Jackass penguin population of the Dassen and Robben Islands, AFP reports from Cape Town. The vessel was carrying 2,427 tons of heavy fuel and 167 tons of gas oil and its last reported position is where oil bubbled to the surface.
