Sydney is the city with the best reputation in the world, according to a new analysis.

The Reputation Institute surveyed 19,000 citizens from G8 countries, asking them about 100 cities across the world - and factors such as safety, quality of life, an attractive environment and an effective government lead to Australia’s largest city being voted the most reputable.

Of the top 20 cities found to be most reputable, 15 were European. Asian cities have been working their way up the list with Seoul, Karachi and Mumbai seeing the highest growth in reputation this year.

The final 10 cities in the list, indicating those with the worst reputations included Baghdad, Moscow and Mexico City.
