The fruit and Bible hijacker
A man pretending to possess a bomb and waving a Bible briefly hijacked a Colombian plane with 87 people aboard, but the episode ended peacefully when one of the passengers overpowered him, Reuters reports from Bogota.
Television reports said Pedro Serafina Aparicio, a Colombian, took over the plane during a domestic flight to Bogota because he was fed up with poverty and violence in his country. 'He said he wanted to talk to President Gaviria,' said a passenger. Police later discovered that his 'bomb', inside a cardboard box, was nothing more than three papayas.
