Turkish court jails 86 rioters

Ankara- A Turkish anti-terrorism court jailed 86 people for between three and 15 years on Monday for their part in an Islamic fundamentalist riot in which dozens of people were killed. Twenty-six of the convicted, for whom the prosecution had dema nded the death penalty, were given 15 years each for murder.

Ankara State Security Court sentenced the remaining 60 to three years each for forming the mob that rampaged hrough the city of Sivas in July 2, 1993. The rioters set fire to a hotel, killing 37 people.
