MOGADISHU (Reuter) - The United Nations continued its attacks on arms dumps belonging to the Somali warlord Mohamed Farah Aideed yesterday, killing at least one person, and defended Pakistani peace-keepers accused of shooting innocent civilians.

A UN spokesman said that during a demonstration on Sunday, gunmen loyal to General Aideed shot at Pakistani troops from behind a screen of women and children before the soldiers opened fire, killing at least 20 people.

In return, Gen Aideed yesterday accused the UN of genocide, and said he would only negotiate when the UN stopped its attacks.
