Unita unveils terms

LUANDA (AFP) - Angola's Unita rebels yesterday set terms for Friday's peace talks with the government, but failed to mention a ceasefire to end the renewed fighting that has left at least 10,000 dead.

In a radio broadcast, Unita demanded the evacuation from Luanda of a senior Unita official, Abel Chivukuvuku, badly wounded in fighting last November. Jorge Valentim, the Unita information secretary, said Mr Chivukuvuku needed treatment abroad.

A rebel statement accused the government of plotting to set up a parallel movement, 'Democratic Unita', which would be led by senior Unita officials detained in Luanda.
