US student killed in SA
A white American post-graduate student was attacked by a mob of black youths and murdered in a township near Cape Town yesterday, days before she was to return to home, AP reports from Johannesburg.
Amy Biehl, 26, of California, was attacked by youths in Guguletu township where she was to drop friends at their homes. Ms Biehl was a Fullbright scholar doing research at the mainly black University of the Western Cape. An ANC official condemned the 'racially inspired' killing.
In a Johannesburg township, a 15-year-old boy was shot dead, the latest victim in fighting that has claimed more than 500 black lives in seven weeks.
