UTA bomb link
(First Edition)
COTONOU, BENIN (AP) - Explosives used to blow up a French UTA airliner in 1989, killing 171 people, were provided by sources based in Benin, according to President Nicephore Soglo. Mr Soglo said a former Benin army captain may have been involved in sending the explosives to Congo. A bomb placed on board the plane in Brazzaville exploded over the Sahara Desert.
