What better tribute to our favourite furry friends than to immortalise them in chintz, swag, cushions, lighting and other items of a home's interior?
Doggy design has been strutting the catwalk and hanging off high street rails this autumn. That it has filtered through to furnishings shows pooch-based design is here to stay.
An obvious way to add canine charm is with a cushion. The fashion designer Ben de Lisi's range of homewares for Debenhams includes a red one featuring his Pug Ella, on sale at £6.
John Lewis has a sober grey cushion, with a cute Scottie dog outline in black-and-white embroidery. RE, a Northumberland homewares store, has a sweet "Dog and Slipper" cushion, made from recycled cream felt wool, £49. Cute and kitsch lighting is another way to bring some pooch into your parlour. Matt Pugh has designed this Wooden Dog Lamp (£129) for Pedlars.
Graham and Green has several doggy interior treats. Get this Animal Nightlight for a little one (£69), these smart Dog Head Hooks (£17.50 to £22) for the dog walker, or an Abigail Ahern greyhound lamp (£399). And a terrier-shaped paper rack, the Companion Rack by designer Gavin Coyle, £75, helps tidy up.
