Questions answered: commenting on independent.co.uk
Latest in Service
Independent.co.uk has moved to a new commenting platform, powered by Disqus, in order to allow users to post comments using a variety of social media credentials (including Facebook and Twitter) and to combat spam and deliver the best commenting experience possible.
For enquiries about the Disqus commenting service, to report login problems or loss of functionality, see the knowledge base at http://help.disqus.com/home and consider raising a ticket at http://disqus.zendesk.com/requests/new
Flagging
To flag a comment as unsuitable, just hover over it and click Flag. This will alert our moderators and ensure we can deal with spam and abuse as promptly as possible.
Failure to log in
In the event that you have signed into Disqus and the 'Leave a comment' box does not show you as logged in, try refreshing the page. If that doesn't work, check your browser has cookies enabled.
Sign-ins
You can comment on the Independent site using log-ins for Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo and OpenID as well as Disqus. In most cases this will involve authorising Disqus for use with your account, which you'll be prompted to do by a pop-up window upon attempting to post a comment. Once Disqus has been authorised once for your account it should not need doing again, though you will need to login again each browsing session.
Accounts created for commenting using our previous system are no longer available.
Sharing settings
For full details on how to share your comments on Facebook and Twitter, read the article from Disqus here.
