Jerry Rice took 14 catches for a team-record 289 yards and three touchdowns on Monday night as the San Francisco 49ers held off the Minnesota Vikings, 37-30, and clinched a first-round play-off bye. Rice pushed his National Football League record to 155 career touchdown and became the first player ever to post three 100-catch seasons. His 289 yards was the fifth highest NFL total ever and the first 250-yard game of the 1990s.
