THE Chinese, having reasserted sporting hegemony once again at the Asian Athletics Championships in Manila, say they are now ready to share some of their secrets with the rest of the world.

A training centre scheduled to be set up next year in Liaoning province will be open to foreign athletes, starting with other Asians, Ma Junren, the unorthodox coach of China's outstanding women runners, said. 'Top level runners from all Asia and the world will be welcome,' said Ma, who mixes high-altitude training with exotic diets.

When the Asian championships came to a close on Saturday, the Chinese had 23 gold medals, while second-best South Korea had three.
