The International Amateur Athletic Federation has urged the US governing body to send all its documents on the banned hurdler Danny Harris to the federation's headquarters in Monte Carlo. Earlier, the US Track and Field president, Larry Ellis, said the American body was considering legal action to get the drugs ban on Harris lifted. Harris, the 1984 Olympic 400m hurdles silver medallist, was banned for four years in 1992 after testing positive for cocaine. He was reinstated by the American governing body last year, but the IAAF banned him from the London grand prix on 15 July, saying only its council had the power to reinstate banned athletes. Moses Kiptanui ran a world best performance for two miles in Hechtel, Belgium. The Kenyan's time of 8min 9.01sec beat the mark set by Khalid Skah last July.
