DENNIS MITCHELL and Olapade Adeniken provided an undignified coda to the Weltklasse Grand Prix by brawling in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Adeniken, Nigeria's chief hope for the Commonwealth 100 metres title, required two stitches to a facial cut inflicted by the American Olympic bronze medallist during a fist fight in the lobby of the athletes' hotel after the 100m final. 'It was a personal thing after the recent USA-Africa athletics meeting,' the meeting organiser, Patrick Magyar, explained. Yesterday Adeniken pulled out of tonight's meeting in Brussels as a result of the altercation.
