Belfast's Noel Magee will make the first defence of his Commonwealth light heavyweight title against Nicky Piper, of Wales, on 30 September at Cardiff Rugby Club, supporting Naseem Hamed's challenge for Steve Robinson's World Boxing Organisation featherweight title.

Robert McCracken, the British light-middleweight champion from Birmingham, returns to the ring in Wolverhampton tomorrow, after an absence of five months, to face Argentina's Jorge Sclarandi.
