Birmingham's Robert McCracken, the Commonwealth middleweight champion, is to make a second defence of his title against the Canadian Fitzgerald Bruney on 1 October. McCracken won the title by outpointing Bruney last November but despite that success he has now been ordered to meet him again with the fight set to be staged at a venue in Birmingham.
Riddick Bowe and Andrew Golota are discussing a rematch of their 11 July fight that ended in a riot at Madison Square Garden according to a report in yesterday's Washington Post. The newspaper also said attorneys for Bowe and his manager, Rock Newman, are attempting to negotiate a settlement with the New York State Athletic Commission. The commission is holding $1m (pounds 666,000) of Bowe's purse and has suspended Newman's promoter's licence as a result of the brawl.Reuse content
