Boxing: Oyebola gains international success

James Oyebola got up off the canvas to knock-out the Englishman Scott Welsh and claim the vacant WBC International heavyweight title in a fight on the undercard of of the Lennox Lewis-Phil Jackson fight in Atlantic City. Oyebola took his chance when Welsh hung his chin out in the fifth round, pinning him against the ropes before landing two thumping rights, and the Brighton fighter pitched forward on to the canvas. Welsh tried to drag himself up, but the referee halted the fight. Yet in the third, Welsh was well on top, flooring Oyebola with a three-punch combination. Oyebola succeeds to the crown Herbie Hide gave up after winning the WBO championship.
