Antonio Margarito, the Mexican welterweigh, outpointed Horatio Garcia, of Sacramento, California, in a 10-round unanimous decision on Thursday night. Margarito, 19, the World Boxing Organization's No 2 welterweight challenger, improved to 12-3 with winning scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 97- 93. Garcia, who outweighed Margarito by two pounds (1kg) at 149 (67.6kg), dropped to 8-1-1.

Scott Welch launches his bid to re-establish himself among the World heavyweight contenders against Yuri Yelistratov, of Russia, in Norwich tonight. The 28-year-old from Shoreham, in Sussex, is on the undercard of Herbie Hide's match with Tony Tucker for the vacant WBO title.
