Fury produces stunning fight to stop Wilder and win WBC world heavyweight title

Eddie Hearn has promised Anthony Joshua will fight Tyson Fury to crown the undisputed heavyweight world champion.

The Gypsy King knocked out Deontay Wilder at the weekend to become a two-time heavyweight king and avenge his controversial draw from 14 months earlier.

Fury is now the holder of the WBC and Ring Magazine belts, while Joshua owns the IBF, WBA and WBO straps, presenting the tantalising prospect of the UK hosting the fight to decide the undisputed champion, with Hearn vowing to not let history pass him by.

“Everybody wants this fight. I promise you, this fight will happen. If we have to fight Pulev, we have to beat Pulev, if he has to fight Wilder, he’s got to beat Wilder again,” Hearn told Sky Sports News.

“Both of those things will happen. Fury will beat Wilder again and AJ will knock Pulev clean out and you will get this fight. We will do everything to make this fight.

“It’s the only fight, when will we get the chance of two British world heavyweight champions fighting for the undisputed title against each other, it’s never happened before. It’ll never happen again.

“We’d be clowns, we’d be idiots if we didn’t make the fight. Let’s see it, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. People talk about the money, where it will be, forget that, strip it back to the beauty of sport, understand what we have here, total domination of the heavyweight division in this country.

“We have the golden keys to the chalice, we are the kings of the world in boxing right now. Let’s not waste it and a chance to make history.”

Hearn also maintains Fury will not be able to implement the aggressive style used to dismantle Wilder against Joshua.

“I said to AJ last night, the great thing about this is, you’re going into the fight as the underdog,” the Matchroom promoter added. “Very rarely will AJ go into a fight as the underdog, but look at the betting markets and AJ is the underdog against Tyson Fury, perfect. We believe we have the man to be the undisputed heavyweight world champion.

“There’s only one way to find out. Let’s make it happen. What a time for the division. Great fighter, very clever fighter, now another dimension where he’s gone in and been aggressive in the fight.

“Will he do that against Anthony Joshua? Different kettle of fish, Joshua is not a 15-stone Deontay Wilder, who can punch a bit, bad going backwards, can get mauled in clinches and be pushed about. Joshua is a big, big heavyweight.”
