Commonwealth Games 2014 Diary: Gymnast’s fall prompts change of routine
Monday 28 July 2014
Luke Carson has come up with a new practice routine after tumbling from the pommel horse on Monday.
The Northern Ireland gymnast, whose career had been in doubt after he broke a leg twice in as many years, lost composure on the apparatus, with his error costing him hopes of a final.
“Shit. I have no idea what happened, I have never done that in any of my routines before. It was an embarrassment,” he said.
When asked how he is going to prepare for his appearance on the parallel bars today, Carson replied: “Jump off my balcony, head first.”
Boxer Prince can rely on himself in an emergency
Trinidad & Tobago boxer Aaron Prince might not need a doctor even if he takes a battering in the ring.
After reaching the last eight in the middleweights, he revealed: “I studied to be an EMT at the University of West Indies. That stands for emergency medical technician. If I hurt myself in the ring I can fix myself up before the doctor gets to me.”
