THE deadline for our competition offering a student photographer and reporter the chance to cover the World Student Games in the United States next year has been extended. At the request of entrants, the deadline for entries is now 23 December.

In conjunction with the British Student Sports Federation and Kodak, we will send two students - a reporter and a photographer - to the World Student Games in Buffalo from 8-19 July.

The winners of our competition will travel with the British team. All their travel and accommodation costs will be met and they will work in Buffalo under the direction of the team management and the Independent. Their work will be published, at our discretion, in the Independent. Anyone over the age of 18 on 1 January 1993 and in full-time education is eligible to enter. You must also be available to travel to Buffalo in the period 5-21 July 1993.

The competition will be in two parts. Initially, reporters should submit a typed report (maximum 400 words) of any recent student sports event. Photographers should submit one or two photographs, in colour or monochrome, of a student sports event taken between October and December 1992. Prints should be a minimum of 6in x 8in and a maximum of 12in x 15in, with details of the event, date and venue marked on the reverse.

Entries, which should be submitted with the entry form printed below, should reach the BSSF office no later than 23 December 1992. They will be returned only if accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope.

A limited number of entrants from each category will be shortlisted. They will then be invited to take part in a final competition at the BSSF Swimming Championships at Sheffield on 13 to 14 March 1993, where candidates will submit reports and photographs of the championships. The winners will have their work published in the Independent later that week.

Judges include representatives of the Independent, BSSF and Kodak. The Independent, BSSF and Kodak reserve the right to publish any material received as part of the competition. The competition is not open to relatives of employees of Newspaper Publishing, BSSF or Kodak.

Send your entry, attached securely to the entry form, to WSG Competition, British Student Sports Federation, 11 Allcock Street, Birmingham, B9 4DY.
