Daniel Coombs, the promising young Essex butterfly swimmer, will spearhead Great Britain's bid for medals at the European Junior Championships in Geneva from 19-22 July.

The 16-year-old from Romford, who claimed the British junior 100m butterfly record last August, confirmed his potential at the European Championship trials in Sheffield last week.

Coombs won the junior 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle and he was seventh in the senior 200m butterfly final. He has been selected for all three events in Geneva, plus the 4x100m freestyle.
