Cricket: Nottinghamshire elect Amanda Spalding to the club's general committee

Amanda Spalding has become the first woman in Nottinghamshire's history to be elected to the club's general committee. The 39-year-old chartered accountant was one of eight candidates standing for a place on the committee.

Chris Cairns is likely to miss New Zealand's visit to India later this year, because he needs an operation on an ankle injury after the forthcoming Test and one-day series against Sri Lanka
