# Cricket: Pakistan's pace pair trump Zimbabwe: Wasim and Waqar's deadly duet decides series

Pakistan 245 and 248; Zimbabwe 254 and 187. Pakistan win by 52 runs

IT WAS business as usual for the old firm in Rawalpindi yesterday as Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis conjured up a 52-run win for Pakistan in the second Test against Zimbabwe to secure a decisive 2-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

The world's most fearsome pair of new ball partners instigated a collapse that saw the tourists shed their last five wickets in 16 overs after tea, ultimately losing their final wicket with 4.4 overs to spare. Wasim took 5 for 65, while Waqar's aggregate return of 9 for 138 earned him the man of the match award for the second consecutive Test.

Zimbabwe thus paid a heavy price for the three dropped catches on the fourth day that enabled Pakistan to recover from 132 for 6. By the time the last two home wickets had been removed Andy Flower and his side required 240 to win a Test for the first time. The captain's brother, Grant, fell to the first ball, whereupon the tide turned via a forceful stand between Mark Dekker (68 not out) and Alistair Campbell (75), who took the score to 135 without further alarm. Ata-ur-Rehman's dismissal of Campbell then altered the plot for good.
