Australia 463 & 13-0 India 532: Australia feel force of Tendulkar century

Sachin Tendulkar hit an unbeaten 154 as India established a 56-run lead over Australia after the third day of the second Test here yesterday. Tendulkar hit 14 fours and a six during a 243-ball stint that, added to 109 by VVS Laxman and 67 from Sourav Ganguly, carried the tourists to 532 all out in response to Australia's first-innings 463.

Australia were 13 without loss at stumps having blown a golden opportunity to stamp their authority on this Test with India on 345 for 7. The tourists' recovery was inspired by Harbhajan Singh's 63 and guided by Tendulkar.

Resuming on 216 for 3, Ganguly and Tendulkar made solid progress, adding a further 77 runs before Ganguly drove straight to Mike Hussey at mid-off off Brad Hogg.

Yuvraj Singh joined Tendulkar at the crease but he was dismissed lbw by Brett Lee just before lunch after picking up 12 runs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni made two before he was caught by Adam Gilchrist and the 36-year-old wicketkeeper then caught Anil Kumble (2) off the persevering Lee. With India 345 for 7, Harbhajan joined Tendulkar and the duo added 129 before the former edged a Mitchell Johnson delivery to Hussey at backward point.

Harbhajan was summoned by the match referee after the close of play following a complaint from the Australia captain, Ricky Ponting, about an alleged remark by the Indian to one of his opponents.
