Australia have reversed the venues for the second and third Tests against England at the end of the year. The second Test of the Ashes series, scheduled for Perth, will now be staged at the Adelaide Oval from November 21, while the third Test has been switched the opposite way and will start eight days later.
The Australian Cricket Board chief executive, James Sutherland, said: "The Nine Network made a formal submission to the board to change the fixture – and after consulting with all relevant stakeholders, including the England and Wales Cricket Board, we have met the request."
Chris Cairns will not be Nottinghamshire's overseas player this summer because he will be having an operation on his right knee in the next few weeks, with Cairns hopeful of being fit enough for Test series against India in December before moving on to the World Cup in South Africa.
"Without being disrespectful to Nottinghamshire, my passion is to play for my country and win the World Cup and that comes first and foremost," Cairns said.Reuse content
